A System Overview

Table of contents

KietraXPR is a web based electronic medical records system.  There are two interfaces to the system, a server application and a client application.  The server application runs on a web server while the client application runs on Windows PCs and provides for creation and entry of medical records information into the KietraXPR server database.  Medical records are created by the clinician or staff on standardized paper forms which are custom created for each provider, clinic or hospital.  The paper forms are completed by the physician or staff and are electronically scanned into the KietraXPR server database via the Internet.

All medical records are stored on the server and are available on an intranet or the Internet depending upon the policies of the physician, clinic or hospital.

The paper input forms are created (printed) on an ad hoc basis in the medical service facility as needed so there is no need to maintain an inventory for blank forms.  After the completed forms are scanned into the system the original input forms are archived in the KietraXPR server and can be stored as according to legal requirements.

The web server application is written in Java and runs on Linx based servers.

The client application was developed for Windows XP with a local scanner attached.
